In an ISOM system like WIPtracker, intelligent agents are Widows processes that are launched periodically to monitor sources of data such as databases and external systems. These Intelligent Agent Processes (IAPs) then process any new data, convert it into actionable intelligence and then feed this information to other systems, databases or to people.
In WIPtracker, these IAPs are controlled by Python scripts. This enables each agent to be tailored to specific applications within each industrial enterprise without needing the person writing the script to be an expert programmer. Instead, all the complex code is loaded in the form of libraries into the agent process as it is launched.
The launching of the agents can be controlled remotely though a web-browser interface, which can also be used to monitor the execution of each intelligent agent.
Most ISOM intelligent agent processes use algorithms such as:
which are understandable and independently testable, which make them ideal for use in an industrial environment, where operational control is essential.
These algorithms can run in real-time on small industrial Internet of Things (IOT) computers,
which can be run on-site in manufacturing plants and warehouses.
This is in contrast to agents that are based on generative AI methods, which require the use of large expensive data centers
accessed over what is increasingly becoming an unreliable internet.
As a result, ISOM systems are able to achieve a high level of operating reliability 24x7, as well as a much higher level of security and at much lower cost.
However, where the use of Generative AI Algorithms is required, such as for Chatbots, ISOM systems can output the real-time data needed by the generative AI algorithms into an external database for use by these generative AI algorithms.
The Real-time intelligent agent technology used by ISOM systems was originally developed
for applications such as advising pilots about how to complete their missions despite battle damage to their aircraft and today is used to detect
counterfeit pharmaceuticals as well as contamination and bioterrorism in the food supply chain.
